So after whining on my dinner brrak about no AK or AQ, I open the fourth round with AQ offsuit a couple hands in. Blinds still 150/300, but now we have a $25 ante, which means the starting pot is $675, not $450. People are still raising to $650, $750... Which I think is low. So I raise to $900 and get called by former chip leader who is playing everything (paid me off on aces before dinner). He's also the late arriver for those keeping score at home. Anyway, flop was K little little, I checked, he bet, I folded.
I didn't play another hand for an hour, just sat around listening to music and being pleased with myself for the aces before dinner and not doing anything dumb with AQ after (i thought about it though)
About an hour into the round, I was two off the button and got KQ offsuit. I raise and get a caller. Flop comes AA4, so I bet again and get a call, though I was hoping for a fold. AQ on the turn made me feel great though and he folded to my $2800 bet on a $4600 pot... Picked up more chips!
Its about this time that I realize I'm invincible. I'm lucky, I'm good, I'm destined to win this tournament. Heck, I'm not even paying attention anymore, just thinking about my winnings.
Next up, pocket sevens. Raise to $650 before me and I call because I like the odds and my upcoming trip sevens. We get five callers, so a nice $3500 pot preflop. Flop comes 3 3 10 rainbow...two checks to me and I take a stab at it for $2800... And three of the remaining four drop!
Just me and the short stack. Turn is a nine and I drop $15k to continue my awful bluff. It should be noted that he only had $6k or $7k, so the dropping of the orange chips was more if a power move that I am putting him all in. I'm now invincible and powerful for those keeping score at home.
Poker tip: If you are going to bluff, and that bluff will involve putting another man to a decision for all of his chips, make sure he is not pot committed first.
With $6900 left, a round around the table costing $675, and $10k in the pot, he had to call with anything. He really tried to talk himself out of it, but had to call with J10 and the top pair held up to beat my sevens and complete my $10,000 bluff failure.
Other hands: played KJ in the big blind to a raise, but folded after I missed the flop. Called a raise with A7 suited, but not the reraise. Raised with AJ suited, but everyone folded.
With a half hour left in the round, I got pocket fours on the button. Had a raise to $875 and a call in front of me, so I called. Three players and the flop comes J, 3, 4... With two clubs. I hit my set, but I am dreading the club draw. The guy who likes to bet his draws bets $875 again and the other guy calls.
This could be a monster hand... But I raise to $4200 and make sure I take $3925 of other peoples money on the $4800 pot before anyone gets a chance to draw. The one guy was torn up about folding, but it was too big of a raise. Maybe I should have played for more, I dunno.
With about five minutes to go, got AK... Just flurry of activity the last hour. I raise to 900 and get 3 callers! Flop is Q 8 diamonds and jack clubs, so I bet 1800 and take a stab at it... Two dropped, one called. We checked it down and my two overs lost to his Q10...
$31,350 at the fourth break... Ten and a half hours and a roller of emotions after I started, I turned $30,000 chips into $31,350!!!
